Learning about Life in China–Shopping
Two days after Spring Festival Yang picked me up at my apartment and took me to the campus cafeteria for lunch. She then gave me a “Golden Dragon” Card with 100 yuan credit. I could use it for any meal at the cafeteria and I could add more money to it whenever needed. It was a great way for students and staff to pay for their food without having to carry around and count out Chinese money over food.
After that, we rode a bus to downtown Changzhou. The bus cost 1 yuan or about 12 cents. It was very crowded. I could not believe all the people that I saw and all the traffic. There were many cars, buses and trucks, but mostly we saw bicycles, scooters, bike-wagons, scooter-wagons and moving contraptions of all sorts with everyone blowing their horns at each other.
